René Bertholo is an unavoidable figure in the history of Portuguese contemporary art, whose artistic career reflects an incessant search for innovation and experimentation. Born in Lisbon in 1935, Bertholo was one of the main protagonists of the artistic avant-garde that emerged in Portugal in the 1950s and 1960s.
