Andreev, Igor

Igor Andreev was born in Saint Petersburg in 1952. At the age of 20 he moved to Canada, where he was granted political asylum. After immigrating to France in the beginning of the 1980s, he started devoting himself entirely to his artistic career: he works on several supports such as canvas and plywood although it is aluminium that stands out in his works. The naif and deformed depiction of the figures and transportation vehicles, predominant in his work, alongside their strong appealing colours, are evocative of the universe of cartoons and comics.
