Jaime

Portugal, 1947

Jaime was born in Lisboa in 1947. He is fond of drawing from a very young age. He started working at 11 like many other children during the Estado Novo dictatorship, but he managed to complete his artistic studies at António Arroio School of Decorative Arts. His dream of continuing his studies in Fine Arts was interrupted by the Colonial War, having spent two years in the Cabinda jungle. He returned suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, but the issue was taboo for decades. In 1991 he has a terrible accident, resulting in an episode of clinical death that brings back a series of ghosts from his past. He always draws compulsively, as an escape and therapy, filling loose leaves and notepads.
