Vignes, Pépé (Joseph Vignes)

France, 1920 – 2007

Born in France in 1920, Pépé Vignes took up drawing in the 1960s, using pencils and felt-tip pens. By way of a naïve and graphics language, Pépé Vignes created a pictorial repertoire of objects which includes means of transport, animals, plants, musical instruments and utilitarian objects. The stroke and use of color grant the drawing a puerile and imaginative quality.
