Ghizzardi, Pietro
Italy, 1906 – 1986
Pietro Ghizzardi was born in 1960 in the region of Mantua in the North of Italy to a family of agricultural workers who, under work circumstances, had to continuously move to new places. That instability affected Ghizzardi who was forced to regularly change schools. Since the decade of the 1950, he has been dedicating himself to painting, drawing and to the writing of his autobiography. His relationship with nature manifests itself in an organic form: Ghizzardi resorts to materials such as coal, herbs, wine, fruit and brick dust to depict figures, especially those of women, that stand out through voluptuousness of their form.
