Turrell, Terry
United States of America, 1946
Terry Turrel grew up surrounded by scrap materials from his parents’ junkyard, which allowed him to make his own toys from an early age. He would revive those times later on, at the end of the 1980s, when he decided to take up painting and sculpture. He selects and reintegrates those materials in order to create objects which are similar to reliquaries not only due to the meticulous and detailed quality of the compositions, but also to the fact that they reveal apparently hidden and enigmatic inner scenes.
